The type of research will be a combination of qualitative and quantitative, however most case studies investigated will be qualitative, as it can be difficult to quantify systems security. Using publicly available documentation from cloud providers regarding their controls and methods for ensuring security and compliance and comparing this with the findings from the relevant case studies.Examinations of case studies gathered online and using relevant academic sources to gather information around the topics of compliance and security, as well as the benefits of cloud computing.Research will be primarily done using two main methods: Methodology Research Method and Data Collection These questions will be the basis of research carried out to examine the impact cloud technologies have on these scenarios. How do cloud providers deliver services that increase redundancy and availability of resources when compared to a traditional data centre infrastructure?.How is location of data storage determined and are cloud providers able to meet the compliance, legal and security requirements of their consumers?.What are some of the controls in place by public cloud providers that prevent attacks from malicious parties, and keep different organisation’s data logically separated?.This project requires a number research questions which will be used to inform the outcome of the project: This will be a research-based project covering these issues and examining case studies to understand how the impact of these problems can be mitigated.Ĭloud computing in general is an innovative topic, as it represents a major change of paradigm for server infrastructure design, and there are new aspects to consider as the technology matures. The purpose of this project is to examine how cloud technologies can be safely and securely implemented to improve scalability and redundancy, and reduce costs for an organisation, while also providing ways to ensure data is secure and compliant. Another concern is the issue of data storage and the impact this could have on compliance or with a country/state’s laws on data storage.
